Scenes from Around the Conference

At the registration table, Rachel Williams makes sure Brent Karner
has all his info before she lets him get his bolsa.

Erin Sullivan and Zack Lemann
go over the Auction Process.

On the first day of the Conference,
many old friends meet and greet.

Kiffnie Holt helps Hazel Davies and Robin Verderame with their registration.

The Bugs in Bondage Mixer was sponsored and hosted by
Zane and Maggie Greathouse of Greathouse Butterfly Farm.

Maggie Greathouse and Renee Cooke were our Bugs in Bondage Babes and made our first evening a treat.

The Mixer was the place to catch up with colleagues and meet new friends,
a special get-together for everyone.

Step up and get your drink!

Zane Greathouse, a Great Host of the Mixer, talks with Bob Merz.

Bugbots was a fun game brought to the Conference
by Michael Weissmann to help raise funds for SASI.

Don Manley of Clemson University was our Keynote Speaker this year and after his great presentation on Velvet Ants we all got together for a snack at the taco bar.
Don poses with the original print of this year’s logo created by Jim Melli of the San Diego Natural History Museum. Jim entered this print in the Silent Auction and Don won the bid!

This year’s Trivia Contest was organized by Doug Taron. His unique questions had the teams scratching their heads. Because of rain, the contest was held in the bar...do booze and insect trivia mix?

SASI’s Board of Trustees held the annual open Board meeting at the Conference this year and ended up in the bar! (for dinner, the restaurant was closed). The Board members are Marcia Tiede, Barbara Terkanian, Alice Pringle, Herb Trossman, Bob Hartley and Carl Olson. Randy Morgan, Pres. of the Board, must be out digging for honey pots.

Ed Somers once again organized the Photo Contest.
The entries were all great and the choices were hard.

Bob Merz and Erin Mills look over the photos.

Ed makes a careful tally of the votes.
Thank you, Ed, for all your care in making the contest fun for all.

Karaoke...never thought anyone would get me up there!
Randy Morgan will dig anywhere to
find his honeypots! He even got Lydia Attard
and Mitch Magdich to help.

The Silent Auction, organized by TITAG, was the center of attention in the Exhibit Hall.
Erin Sullivan got the data base set up and Bob Merz, Jaime Sincage and many others with
TITAG followed through to the end just before the Banquet when the bidding reached it’s height of excitement. The proceeds from the Auction were shared by SASI and TITAG.

Thank you to all who helped to make this the most successful Auction to date.

John Rhodes gets in close for the perfect photo.
This isn’t the first time he’s been found laying down on the job!
