Short-tailed Skipper
Zestusa dorus

General: This medium sized skipper has a short lobe or tail at the bottom of the hindwing. It is best seen in spring when it can be found at mud. Males patrol hilltops, usually perching on vegetation.
Flight: spring to summer
Foodplant: oaks, Quercus sp.
Status: resident
