General: The American Snout is a medium sized orange, brown and white butterfly with a long, distinctive palpus or snout.
Flight: spring to fall
Foodplant: hackberry, Celtis sp.
Status: often abundant, (especially in late summer) It is a non-breeding resident since its foodplant does not occur in the Memorial.
