Red-spotted Purple
Limenitis arthemis arizonensis

General: One of the showier butterflies in the Memorial, the Red-spotted Purple mimics the unpalatable Pipevine Swallowtail. It is rarely seen away from riparian areas.

Foodplant: Gooding willow, Salix goodingii; cottonwood, Populus fremontii
Status: resident
