Workshops are becoming a very popular aspect of the Conference. Providing hands-on, in-depth coverage of a particular subject, many of the twelve workshops offered this year were filled to capacity. They were run concurrently on Friday, in morning and afternoon sessions, making it tough to decide which one to take. For the 2000 Invertebrates in Captivity Conference, the program is being restructured so that workshops will be offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We don't have photos of every workshop but if you click on these, you'll see how some activities really held everyone's attention.

Doug Kemper was quite intent on creating a unique insect.

Back by popular demand, David Faulkner and Carl Olson presented the Forensics workshop. SASI is grateful to the Arizona Game and Fish Department for providing portions of deer and javalina carcasses for the event.

Susan Post (center) shows Kathy Burkholder how to make a balloon insect while Jennifer Donovan tries on her own.

Rusty Grimpe also learned how one can create interactive arthropod exhibits on a shoestring.

Also back by request was Joe Warfel (right) to explain the intimate details of macrophotograpy
