2008 INVERTEBRATES IN EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION CONFERENCE
July 29 - August 3 • Rio Rico, Arizona

Hosted and organized annually by Sonoran Arthropod Studies Institute

The 2008 Invertebrates in Education and Conservation Conference brings together zoo, aquarium, museum, exhibit design, and education professionals, as well as the interested general public. The Conference will be held at the Esplendor Resort just one hour south of Tucson, Arizona. The mesquite grassland around the Resort and the riparian areas just a few miles away are fascinating invertebrate habitats and offer additional learning opportunities for participants. The facilities at the Resort are ideal for the personable and educational camaraderie that the Conference fosters.

Other Activities During the Conference

SILENT AUCTION

Back by popular demand! TITAG will be coordinating a silent auction this year. Bring an invertebrate-related gift to put on the Auction table. Bidding will start Friday, August 3 and end Sunday, August 5 at the Banquet. Winning bids will be announced at the Banquet. Proceeds to benefit TITAG and SASI.

EXHIBITORS AND VENDORS

Last year our exhibit area held 11 exhibitors featuring live animals, butterfly farmers, exhibit technology, collecting equipment, and unique invertebrate gifts! This year we expect that many of the same vendors will return and hope to have new vendors with new and exciting inventory. We plan to list all confirmed exhibitors in July's registration confirmation materials so you can place special orders.

INFORMATION & JOB LISTINGS

Conference participants are encouraged to bring educational materials, organizational brochures, photo albums, and other free information to share with colleagues at the information exchange tables. An area will be dedicated to posting positions available, or your resume if you are looking for employment.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Bring your favorite invertebrate photograph, proudest invertebrate moment, or other invertebrate happenings captured on film or digital media to display at the Conference. Submit up to seven photographs. There are two categories: Professional and Amateur. Print sizes can be as small as 5"x7” and as large as 8 1/2"x12”, but no larger. The Professional category will be awarded a First Prize. The Amateur category will be awarded First, Second, and Third Place Prizes. A judging ballot will be available in each participants registration materials. Winners will be announced at the Banquet. PLEASE HAND CARRY YOUR PHOTOS TO THE CONFERENCE OR MAIL THEM TO YOURSELF AT THE RESORT.
