Monthly Community Day at SASI - 4th Saturday

9:30 - 10:15am
Nature Walk - January Arthropods - We will search the SASI butterfly garden, surrounding desert, and some nearby wet spots for arthropods. We may see the beautiful Pima Orange Tip Butterfly, Anthocharis cethura pima.
10: 30 – 11:30am
Pollinators - Stephen Buchmann Ph. D.
Steve is the international coordinator of the Pollinator Partnership and the author of 12 books including Pollinators of the Sonoran Desert. He is currently working on an illustrated field guide to bees of the southwest United States.
12:00 - 1:00pm
Potluck Lunch: Bring a dish to share (but don’t worry if you don’t, we’ll still feed you!)
1:00 - 2:00pm
Live Arthropod Presentations. Emily Francis and John Rhodes will show arthropods from the SASI collection. Featured this month are Painted Lady Butterflies and some new scorpions and tarantulas.
2:00 - 3:00pm
Workshop - Painted Lady Butterflies
The Painted Lady Butterfly lives on all continents except Australia and Antarctica, and can be raised through its complete life cycle in captivity. In this workshop we will provide everything you need to raise Painted Ladies yourself. This activity is designed to be appropriate for all ages.

SASI Members may visit anytime 9 AM to 4 PM, Tuesday - Saturday by appointment.
Those wishing to see SASI in order to consider lending their support through a new membership are also invited to call to schedule a visit.
