Esperanza
One of the insects I think holds a potential market for the breeders is an insect known as an esperanza. It seems that this word applies to many green katydids. This one was on the handle of the tripod used for the mercury vapor light. Not making a good photo, we put it into the vivero. Like the Rothchildia, it was a female and William was interested in trying to rear this species. Whether this is the same one that occurs in Angostura where Sergio is also trying, I am not certain. In checking the collection at INBio, it seems that there are a number of Costa Rican species in the genus Steirodon. Their hostplants are unknown but the curator of orthoptera and I both agree that they probably feed on a wide variety of plants.
