Owl Fly Family: Ascalaphidae |
| A cluster of owl fly eggs was discovered in Florida Canyon just as the larvae were emerging. This species typically lays its eggs on grass stem about 18" above the ground. Owl fly larvae do not dig pits as do the closely related ant lions do. These larvae are being raised at SASI on small crickets and fruit flies. | |
