7 Essential Must-Have Outdoor Kitchen Components

There’s nothing more comforting than eating al-fresco in your own backyard, patio or a garden. Enjoying your fave meals in the comfort of your own home, while being outside is simply wonderful, especially if it is also the weekend, and you have no other obligations nor plans. But, in order to make this experience fully functional, then it would be smart to build an outdoor kitchen that you’ll be able to use anytime you want to prepare a quick bite. However, before you start this project, it’s important to learn about all the components that one outdoor kitchen needs to have. So for that reason, here are some of them that you should include when building your perfect backyard kitchen.

A dishwasher

This suggestion might be surprising to some, but it’s definitely true. Juggling multiple dishes while cooking outdoors is a big task, so the last thing you need is to carry those dishes back and forth in order to clean them. That’s why having a functional dishwasher can be of great help. Imagine having a barbecue party and being able to put all the dishes into a dishwasher straight away. That’s simply so amazing and practical at the same time. But, if for any reason, a dishwasher isn’t what you need, then be sure to install a sink, so you’ll be able to wash the dishes without leaving your outdoor kitchen.

A beer tap

If you’re a true beer lover, then you know how annoying it is to carry all the beer bottles and six-packs. A beer tap, therefore, is a great solution, especially if you love throwing outdoor house parties with a lot of people. Besides, a beer tap is a much cleaner and more eco-friendly option than anything else that you can find. Because when there are no cans and bottles that need to be recycled, your outdoor kitchen is a much cleaner and happier place to be.

Pizza oven

Baking your own pizza can be a unique and fulfilling experience. And baking your own pizza, in your own pizza oven, while relaxing in your own backyard is an entirely different thing. Homemade pizza is always a great meal choice, especially when cooking something more elaborate isn’t an option. That’s why having your own pizza oven can be such a useful feature in your new outdoor kitchen.

A cooking appliance that will work for you

Aside from a pizza oven, you’d need some other appliance to prepare all the special meals for your loved ones. There are many of them, so it’s entirely up to you to choose the one that works for you. You can pick between electric, gas, and induction, but there are also many more to pick from. But if you prefer gas cooking technology, then choosing a gas burner for your stove or wok will be a great idea, especially if you opt for a portable one, as then you’ll be free to move it around as you please.

Counters and glassware storage

A kitchen isn’t complete if there are no spaces that allow you to prepare food and store items that you’re not using all the time. A nice glassware storage is a perfect solution as you can keep all your glasses and stemware safe while keeping them within your reach in the kitchen. Also, when choosing kitchen countertops and counters, be sure to consider the size of the kitchen, so if you’re lucky to have enough space, feel free to install a kitchen island as well. Countertops are important if you want to have a sink and of course, proper space for food prep.

Outdoor fridge

If there’s one item that definitely deserves to be a part of your outdoor kitchen project, then it’s an outdoor fridge. You don’t have to go overboard with buying something extraordinary, but a nice, functional fridge will fit nicely, as you won’t have to go indoors to pick things up that much. Plus, you’ll be able to keep your perishable foods safe, chilled and frozen.

Add a few floating shelves

Floating shelves are practical and super easy to install, plus, they can also add an element of luxury to your outdoor kitchen space. They can also act as an additional storage space, however, if you want to decorate the kitchen, then feel free to use it as a decorative element by adding figurines or cute potted plants.

Conclusion

These are important things that you should have in your outdoor kitchen. Of course, there are numerous others that you might consider, such as ice maker and outdoor grill, to name only some. That’s why it’s important to start slow and be patient when building the outdoor kitchen. Rather than buying everything at once, make sure to assess your needs and preferences first, so your kitchen will be perfect for you and the ones you love.

My aunt is thinking of converting her garden into something more functional. I like your idea of installing a couple of appliances, such as a burner, that can help her cook food on her lawn! I’ll be sure to pitch this idea to her as soon as we meet again!
